The surface of finely machined parts will have many grayish-black circular shallow pits. Before cleaning, the pits are filled with slag, the amount of which directly affects the quality of our castings.

Fine machining is convenient, saves material, and saves resources during operation. Many casting methods can only cast relatively simple castings, while another advantage of fine machining is that it can cast complex castings.

There are many issues to pay attention to during fine machining. Due to the poor fluidity of the molten steel, in order to prevent insufficient casting or cold shuts during processing, the wall thickness of the fine machining cannot be less than 8mm.

The solidification methods of fine machining are as follows:

1. Intermediate solidification: The solidification of most alloys is between layer-by-layer solidification and mushy solidification.

2. Mushy solidification: The alloy has a wide crystallization temperature range. During a certain period of solidification, there is no solid layer on the surface of the fine machining, and the solidification zone penetrates the entire cross-section, first mushy, then solidified.

3. Layer-by-layer solidification: During the solidification process of metals and eutectic alloys, there is no solidification zone in the cross-section. The liquid and solid phases are clearly separated by a boundary. As the temperature decreases, the solid phase layer increases continuously, and the liquid phase layer decreases continuously, in the middle.

What are the factors affecting high-value parts?

Cutting processes have been widely applied due to the decreasing demand for productivity and the increasing demand for dimensional accuracy and shape in modern mechanical manufacturing, leading to new development trends in high-precision parts. Different turning methods are required when using lathes; however, the integration of processes such as grinding, gear cutting, and milling on a single lathe is a clear trend.
